Fort Worth Plastic Surgeon Reveals the Right Time to Consider a Mommy Makeover

Plastic Surgeon in Fort Worth Highlights Ideal Time for a Mommy Makeover

Jon Kurkjian, MD highlights the comprehensive Mommy Makeover and discusses proper timing for when patients should ideally undergo the procedure.

Fort Worth, TX — The associated hormonal and weight fluctuations of pregnancy often lead to a number of changes in a woman’s body that may prove resistant to a healthy diet and regular exercise, states Dr. Jon Kurkjian, a board certified plastic surgeon in Fort Worth. Included among these changes can be abdominal laxity, localized pockets of fat in the flanks and/or abdomen, volume reduction in the breasts, sagging/drooping of the breasts, and much more. For women interested in treating any combination of these concerns, Dr. Kurkjian notes that a Mommy Makeover can often be an excellent cosmetic solution.

According to the Fort Worth plastic surgeon, a Mommy Makeover typically consists of a customized combination of body contouring and breast enhancement procedures. At his practice, operations that can be performed include (but are not limited to):

  • Liposuction
  • Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
  • Breast Augmentation
  • Mastopexy (Breast Lift)
  • Brazilian Butt Lift

Regarding when to consider the procedure, Dr. Kurkjian says, “A Mommy Makeover is best for patients who are at a stable weight and who have stopped any nicotine products for four weeks prior to surgery. Ideally, patients have reached their goal weight before surgery, as this is not a weight loss procedure but rather a body reshaping procedure.” He goes on to note that women who are contemplating having a child and/or multiple children in the future should wait until they are done having kids, as any additional pregnancies may negatively affect their outcomes from the initial surgery.

Women interested in a Mommy Makeover should also ensure they have ample time for recovery and recuperation. “Recovery from a Mommy Makeover typically ranges from three days to two weeks, depending on the extent of procedures being performed,” writes Dr. Kurkjian in a recent blog post. He explains that the specific amount of downtime required after surgery is generally dictated by which abdominal procedure is performed, as this region often takes the longest to fully heal.

Ultimately, Dr. Kurkjian says a Mommy Makeover can be extremely rewarding for the right candidate, though prospective patients should make certain they consult a board certified plastic surgeon who is highly skilled and experienced in each of the procedures being employed. Doing so, he adds, can help ensure they receive the safest, most effective treatment for their unique needs.
